Uganda
The Uganda Local Network was established in 2018 and currently has nine members, led by Rikolto. The Local Network works closely with the government (through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives) as well as other strategic partners from the non-profit, private, and public sectors. Our vision is to cultivate a Local Network with active membership and strong internal and external linkages, that applies the AMEA Framework towards the goal of accelerating the development of professional farmer organizations in Uganda.
Focus Areas
- Supporting initiatives which improve business development services landscape and allow farmer organisations to access quality assessors, trainers and coaches.
- Promoting the use and adoption of IWA 29 as a contribution towards a common understanding of professionalism in farmer organisations
- Prompting the use and demonstrating the effectiveness of the AMEA tools in building capacity of farmer organisations.
- Supporting the work of members and partners to ease sustainable access to affordable financing for farmer organisations
- Fostering collaboration and learning amongst members and partners through joint project development, case studies and field visits
- Supporting farmers’ access to practical and working ag-tech solutions
